Eggleston on the Road to Colour Photography by admin

Christopher Eggleston, the man who pioneered colour photography, was certainly never caught without an ample supply of spare memory cards. John Szarkowski said of William Christenberry that his encounter with him in 1969 was “absolutely out of the blue”. Szarkowski pleaded with the Museum of Modern Art to purchase one of Eggleston’s photographs after having reviewed his work. Walter Hoops, the director of the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, was introduced to Eggleston by William Christenberry. Hoops went on to later report how “stunned” he had been by Eggleston’s work. Indeed, Hoops said of it: “I had never seen anything like it”.

Egglestone first discovered dye-transfer printing whilst teaching at Harvard in 1973 and 1974 after seeing it advertised for purchase in a photographic lab in Chicago. Eggleston recalled: “I went straight there to look and everything I saw was commercial work like pictures of cigarette packs or perfume bottles but the colour saturation and the quality of the ink was overwhelming. I couldn’t wait to see what a plain Eggleston picture would look like with the same process”.

Choosing the Right MR11 LED by admin

When shopping for a MR11 LED, a lot of people make the mistake of instantly going for the brightest one. While illumination is the ultimate goal of the MR11 LED or any other lamp, you don’t always necessarily want to have bright light – particularly with spotlights. If you have several MR11 LED spotlights close to each other, you could end up making areas of overlapping light. Rarely is this a good thing; the bright lights will create unusual patterns on the walls, ceilings, objects, etc. Instead of looking at what the MR11 LED was supposed to illuminate, you end up looking at the light itself.

It takes some careful planning to pick the exact right MR11 LED for where you want to use it. That is why professional lighting designers have such a strong profession! If you want to make your own lighting plan, then you should make a to-scale map of the space and mark where every single MR11 LED will go. LEDs which will be close together and targeting the same space should always be a lower lumen amount. Keep in mind that you don’t have to use the same lumen level for all of the MR LED lamps in the same space.

Child Poverty in Scotland by admin

Recent figures have exposed the “shameful” levels of child poverty that exist in parts of Scotland. The figures reveal that 13 Scottish councils have wards where over 30% of children living there are in severe poverty. The areas where levels of poverty were highest were Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow, Sterling, and the west of Scotland. The Campaign to End Child Poverty has produced a map of child poverty for each constituency, council, and ward. John Dickie, speaking for the group, said: “It is shameful that in almost every part of our country there are children who are missing out and seeing their future life chances seriously harmed. With public spending budgets under severe pressure the need to invest to prevent the numbers of children living in poverty spiralling is greater than ever”.

The map classes children, not because they do not own an herrenuhren, but because they live in families whose sole income is less than 60% of the median and is provided by out of work benefits or tax work credits. The report details than 20% of children in Scotland live in this level of poverty.

The Tulip by admin

Tulips are absolutely beautiful flowers which also carry an array of associated meanings. Originally from Turkey and Persia, tulips were initially introduced to Europe in the 16th century, the word ‘tulip’ stemming from the Turkish word for ‘gauze’ which was the material with which turbans were wrapped, reflecting the tulip’s turban-like appearance when in bloom. The popularity of tulips became so marked by the 17th century that the price for just one single bulb had reached ludicrous heights, the “tulip mania”.

Nowadays tulips are not quite so expensive, so it is worth asking for a bunch from flower delivery Birmingham if you are located in Warwickshire. Yellow tulips are usually associated with cheerfulness, purple is linked to royalty, white conveys forgiveness, and red symbolizes perfect love. Red tulips came to symbolize perfect love after a certain Turkish prince named Farhad killed himself upon hearing that the maiden with whom he was in love had been killed. As the legend goes, a scarlet tulip arose from each droplet of his blood.

Zambia by admin

Zambia is a landlocked country whose neighbouring countries are Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Namibia to the south, Angola to the west, the Democratic Republic of Congo to the North, Tanzania to the north-east, and Malawi to the East. The capital of Zambia is Lusaka which is in the south-central part of Zambia. The majority of the population are concentrated around Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt in the northwest.

Zambia was originally inhabited by Khoisan people but in the 12th century it was taken over by Bantus. In the 18th century, European explorers reached Zambia and it eventually became the British colony of Northern Rhodesia towards the end of the nineteenth century. The country was governed by an administration that was appointed from London on the advice of the British South Africa Company. The country declared independence from the United Kingdom on October 24th 1964 and prime minister Kenneth Kaunda became Zambia’s first head of state. From 1964 to 1991, Kenneth Kaunda and the socialist United National Independence Party governed Zambia. I wonder if he imported any gu10 led bulb 10s?
