It seems that getting banned from Xbox live isn't the only thing that happens now, You also lose any warranty on the Xbox console, so even if your Xbox dies from a red ring of death which has nothing to do with the firmware being flashed then you also get screwed. Just imagine if this happened in the car industry, your cars warranty is invalid because you got a new stereo fitted!!!. Im sure Microsoft are wanting to piss off as many users as possible and send them running to Sony or Nintendo.
